Our yard waste grinders can not handle pumpkins, but if you are able to let them decompose in your garden or yard, that is the best option. Or, if you compost at home you can add these gourds to your compost. Otherwise, place them in the trash, and they will be sorted out for composting at the County’s ReSource Center.

Holiday lights can NOT be placed in your household containers as they are electronic waste. They can be dropped off at MarBorg’s Downtown or Goleta Recycling Centers, or the South Coast Recycling and Transfer Station.

Wrapping paper without any glitter can be placed in your recycling container. If it is still in good condition, save it to be reused. Skipping the wrapping paper altogether is the best solution – try wrapping gifts with fabric, or use old newspaper/magazines.
Glittery & Iridescent Wrapping Paper

Tissue Paper

Tissue paper is so thin, there is not enough paper pulp to be recycled. Try to reuse tissue paper before throwing it away.
